How to get Jpop and Jrock legally
This is an announcement to let everybody know what is happening with the JpopMp3s.com site.
The site was hosted in the USA and I had paid USD1000 last August for “lifetime” hosting. Little did I know at the time that “lifetime” meant 6 months, coz as you may have noticed the site has been down since the beginning of January.
It took me a while to figure out what happened but basically the server that the site was on crashed and burned and the hosting company didn’t have any backups and decided not to contact anybody that was affected. All email messages to the hosting company bounced back and Facebook and Skype messages went unanswered.
Luckily I have a backup of the site on my hard drive and I’m trying to find someone to install the content management system and backup my site. Unfortunately the same company that installed it the first time, is the one that did the runner with my grand, so I need to find someone else to do it.
If you want me to put the site back up, please leave a comment below. Frankly this whole rigmorale, combined with Apple making it increasingly difficult for me to get these cards to you, (not to mention the crappy exchange rate) has me kind of disillusioned, so some encouragement and moral support would be greatly appreciated.
I will update here and also send an email to everybody on my list when the site is up and running again.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
This is an announcement to let you know that I will be leaving Japan for a 3 week vacation next Friday morning the 18th of December. iTunes cards will be unavailable from my site from December 18th to January 8th 2010.
You may or may not know that iTunes changed some things around this year and I now have to physically go to a store and buy the cards that I send you. I used to be able to buy online so last year when I went to the Philippines I could still send out cards.
Not being in Japan I will not be able to run to the store and buy your cards so will have to travel with a couple of thousand dollars worth of cards in my luggage, or I’d run out mid-trip.
I don’t want to cause any disappointments so I’m letting you know now so that you can get in before next Friday (I’ll probably close the store at around midnight Thursday Japan time.)
Sorry for the inconvenience. I did consider having a friend “babysit” the store while I was away but I didn’t want to run the risk of him not getting everything perfectly right, as I try to give the best customer service experience possible.
So if you want any cards between now and the first week of January, please come to JPopMp3s.com before midnight Thursday night Japan time or you will have to wait till January 8th.
I hope you and your family have a very happy holiday season and a prosperous 2010.
When I do get back, I’ll make up for the inconvenience with a special sale. Check back here after January 8th for details. There will only be a limited number of cards available at the special prices so be sure to check back here then.
This morning somebody asked me on Twitter to help them find an MP3 for a song that I didn’t know. They included a link to the video of the song on YouTube. I thought this would be a good opportunity to show everyone a quick, free and easy way to extract and download the MP3 audio from a YouTube video without the need for any software. Check the video below for a quick and easy way to get not only any MP3, but also download the MP4 or a Flash video or even a video formatted to play on your iPod.
While I found the sound quality wasn’t as great as you hear on the actual video, I think it’s fine if you are in a pinch and if you didn’t want to download from the Japanese iTunes store with a prepaid card from JPopMp3s.com
Scroll down to the bottom of this post to list to or download the audio only version of this video.
Transcript of video
Aaron: Hello and welcome to another JPopMp3s.com video. Today I am going to show you how to download and extract an MP3 file from a YouTube video. So for example, if you see a music video for a group that you like but you cannot find just the music track, you can go to YouTube.com and you can download it for free. So for example, I am going to use this song that somebody asked me about on Twitter. She asked me how to find this song. So I am going to click right here and it goes to the video on YouTube.
[music]
Let’s stop that. Now it is really easy to extract the MP3 and download it. So what you should do is on YouTube, go up to the URL bar and click in front of the word YouTube. And just before YouTube, type in the word “kick”. So it is the same URL but with the word “kick” in front of YouTube, so kickyoutube.com.
So you go there and you will see kind of like a YouTube clone, and it is the same video basically. So up here you have choices to choose from. You can download the MP4, which is the video, Flash video…If high definition is a choice you can get high definition. You can get the video for your iPhone or just the MP3, which is what we want here.
So we click this and we click this green “go” (button). Now what that is doing is that is processing the video. It is extracting the MP3, and when it is ready, this green box here will change to a blue one that says “down”. That will take two or three minutes, so we will just wait for that. I will pause the video and come back when it is ready.
Before I do that, let me just give us a little plug. You know about JPopMp3s.com where you can buy iTunes cards for Japanese iTunes store and you can download anything you want from the Japanese store.
Normally you would need a Japanese credit card and a Japanese address to get one of these, which you probably don’t have, but I do. So use me! Use my address and use my credit card and I will send you a JPopMp3s.com iTunes card. There are testimonials here from very satisfied customers. Feel free to look through it.
OK. This is still downloading, so I will just pause the video and come back when it is ready.
OK. So once that finished ‑‑ that took about two or three minutes ‑‑ this changes to a blue download button. So you right click on it and save it wherever you want. I am going to save it to the desktop. You can call it whatever you want. I am just going to leave the name as it is.
And once it downloads, you can just open it up and it will play in your default MP3 player. In my case it is iTunes.
[music]
There you go. So the sound is not as clear as it is on the original YouTube video. But you know, if you are going to listen to it in your iTunes there is nothing wrong with that.
OK. I hope you enjoyed the video. Follow me on Twitter. Subscribe to the blog. And have a good day.
